Gage Work

Working in massive manufacturing industries with gigantic machinery and production tools such as CNC turning and milling machines, laser-cutting or EMD machines, and hydraulic cylinders—you may have noticed small tools and components that work as the foundation for these huge machines, such as screws and gages.

For a machine to operate properly, you need to ensure that the mechanism is intact for seamless operation. The gages measure individual threads on the internal and external diameters of a machine’s screws— so that the gears, nuts, and bolts can operate in sync with each other.

To ensure accuracy, you need to make sure you’re using the right type of gages for specific screw threads. For example, ring gages are used to measure externally threaded parts to establish a limitation for maximum material size. In contrast, plug gages are best used to identify the pitch diameter of a screw.

No matter which kind of gage you require for your specified needs—MD Design and Automation can craft it for your industry with utmost precision and accuracy.
